Form-filling is an everyday part of running any business, no matter what size. Possibly, unsurprisingly a large part of this form filling is spent dealing with, or at least signing, a whole raft of forms from HM Revenue and Customs.  With the payroll year end not a million miles away we’ve created a brief summary of some the key things you need to think about. In most cases, your accountant should deal with most of these aspects, but do remember you are ultimately liable.

The P60 provides employees with an official end of year tax certificate, for want of better analogy a receipt for how much of their hard earned cash has been given to the Treasury. It provides your employee with total pay details of total PAYE tax and national insurance deductions made in the last financial year. By law, you have to provide your employees with P60s by 31st May, as long as they were working for you on 5th April of that tax year.

P14s provide an end of year summary for each employee who has been required to fill in a P11. The P14 should be completed with information recorded from the P11 during the tax year.

While filling these forms in is a massive burden, all of the information you require is stored safely within your payroll system. Whether you are using Sage, TAS, Intuit QuickBooks, Access, Pegasus or any other key payroll software, Business Stationery Direct can provide you with P60 and P14 forms that fit with your software.
